Blooming Petals Floral Motif

In this post, I’ll show you how to crochet Blooming Petals – a small, layered 3D flower made with three colors.



It is perfect for decorating sweaters, cardigans, hats, bags, wall hangings, or as part of a larger project like blankets and tapestries.

Written Instructions (US Terms):

Starting chain:

With Color 1:

Make a slipknot,

ch 6, join with sl st into the first ch to form a ring.

Round 1:

Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc 1, ch 3;

(dc2tog, ch 3) repeat 5 more times.

Sl st to the top of the first cluster of dc2tog to close the round.

Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Round 2:

With Color 2:

Join in new color in any ch-3 space.

In each ch-3 space: (1 sc, 1 hdc, 3 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) repeat around for a total of 6 petals.

Sl st to the first sc to close the round.

Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Round 3:

With Color 3:

Join new color into the last sc of any petal.

Ch 5, sl st into the last sc of the next petal – repeat around for 6 loops.

ROUND 4:

In each ch-5 space: (1 sc, 1 hdc, 6 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) repeat in each loop.

Sl st to the first sc to close the round.

Cut the yarn and fasten off.
